Key Text: John 13:17 KJV - If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.
It is wonderful to know God's word, but we are only blessed when we practise the Word. The knowledge of the truth alone will not make us free, but the doing it. You are deceiving your own self when you do nothing with your knowledge of God's word. Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God - Romans 10:17. But faith without works is dead. The Lord Jesus has commanded us to learn of Him by following His examples to do as He has done.
True Christians simply follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ. When He was reviled, He reviled not again. When He was op-pressed and afflicted, He did not open His mouth to defend Himself. When He saw the multitudes of sinners, He was moved with compassion and preached the gospel to them. But we fight for our rights, we defend ourselves and show no compassion to the sinners around us. Examine your Christian life today.
We cannot say we are truly following Christ with all the selfishness in our lives. Jesus said, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me. Precious people, there's a cross to bear, but His grace is sufficient for us. His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. Your Christian life will be a disappointment and fruitless, if you fail to practise the word of God. Brethren, consider your ways.
Prayer: O Lord, give me the grace to follow your footsteps by obeying your word, in Jesus name. Amen.
Reflection: But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves - James 1:22.
